A Huge Win for Renewable Energy Infrastructure in Rural Wisconsin

Thanks in part to the efforts of Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved almost $6 million in grants for over 50 local farmers, ranchers, and businesses. The money is part of the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), and is earmarked for investment in renewable energy.

Recipients have a variety of plans for their REAP Program funds, from new, energy-efficient buildings to elevators, heavy machinery, and even cutting-edge solar panel arrays. The largest of the latter by far will be IKI’s roof-mounted installation – a nearly 500 kW (kilowatt) system that received more than $370,000 in Reap Program funding.

IKI’s solar project is expected to save around $75,000 per year, with 600,600 kWh (kilowatt hours) generated annually; that’s enough to power more than 55 homes.

“By installing more energy efficient equipment…  like solar panels, Wisconsinites can see their energy bills go down, helping them re-invest more dollars back into their businesses and workers.”

“Investing in renewable energy for Wisconsin is a win-win for our farmers, businesses, and environment. By installing more energy efficient equipment and renewable energy like solar panels, Wisconsinites can see their energy bills go down, helping them re-invest more dollars back into their businesses and workers,” Baldwin said, in a statement. She emphasized her proud support for forward-looking energy solutions that “pay for themselves.”

IKI is proud to benefit our community and environment by joining the ranks of the most responsible Wisconsin manufacturers – and leading the charge among aerosol manufacturers – with this renewable energy venture.
